Hello loves, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa
I’ve got a foundation to share with you today. I actually purchased it back in April and I’ve only just got around to writing a post about it because I’ve had quite a bit of PR product to do first. This is the RimmelWakeMe UpFoundation.
I am so late to the party trying this foundation, it was on nearly every blog and You Tube channel months/years ago! I decided to give it a go purely for the anti-fatigue and brightening aspect of the product. I also love that it contains Vitamin C too, and I thought that it would be lighter on my skin for the Summer months. I bought the shade 103 True Ivory.
This foundation is very creamy in texture, and the pump-action dispenser means it’s more hygienic and gives the amount you need. I tried using just one pump at first, but found I needed two to cover my big old face. But it blends beautifully with a brush or a sponge or fingers, it does apply really nicely. Once I had blended it in my skin looked and felt softer, brighter and more radiant, and no glitter or shimmer on my face at all either, which is what I have found with some skin brightening foundations. Once it’s on the skin it doesn’t feel sticky and clammy, and the smell is amazing, it’s a lovely fresh fragrance to it. I usually powder my foundation, but with the Rimmel Wake Me Up I decided to just powder the center of my face and keep the rest of my face glowy and ready to take my creamy cheek colours. (I’ve a post of which cheek products I’ve been using coming on the blog soon)
I didn’t use a primer underneath this foundation as I wanted to see how it wears without it, although I did spritz afterwards with a setting spray. It lasted me all day without creasing under my eyes, and it didn’t cause any shine down the center part of my face where I applied powder. I did however notice that none was left on my forehead, which can only be down to the weather causing my face to sweat rather a lot. I think a lot of us makeup wearers have been suffering with the same problem this Summer in the UK. It’s certainly not the fault of the product.
This is definitely a foundation I shall repurchase, and there is a concealer to match so I’d like to get my hands on that next. I purchased my Wake Me Up Foundation from Superdrug HERE.
I had been trying to get my hands on this foundation for ages but it had always been out of stock in my local Superdrug. I couldn’t order it online because I needed to check for the correct shade for my skin tone, now thankfully I have it and it was so worth waiting for. This is the Flawless Silk Foundation by B. Makeup. I tried it without using a primer underneath.
This non – oily silk foundation gives a light to medium coverage which is buildable and easy to blend to the coverage you want. It’s so lightweight that I couldn’t feel I was wearing a foundation, but for the pretty glow it gave my skin, to touch my skin feels silky and soft. The Flawless Silk Foundation comes in a tube, but rather than a squeezy delivery system it’s actually a pump-action one, the cap clearly says “Pump me slowly” but before you do give it a good shake first it works better that way!
To give the foundation a good try out I used 3 ways to apply it. My dampened foundation sponge (not a B. Makeup one) a brush (not a B. makeup one) and my fingers. To be honest I’ve never liked using my fingers to apply my foundation, but they are a pretty good tool to apply it with if you want more of a fuller coverage, using fingers for this one you do get a good slip of the product, it didn’t drag on my skin at all, I patted it in over the eye area so as not to pull at the delicate skin, it covered the darkness in the inner corners of my eyes. I much prefer using my two favourite methods though to apply this foundation. I used just one pump with my damp sponge and it covered what I wanted it to cover. I get a bit of redness on my left cheek and my chin, and both areas were covered nicely, using the damp sponge gives a lighter coverage that is perfect for days when I’m just at home but want my skin to look as though I’m more put together. If I need a heavier coverage I use a buffing brush and again this gorgeous product applies like a dream. After I have blended the foundation in I take whats left on the brush over my eyes, carefully. I do tend to sweat on my eyelids so this just helps me get a nice base for eyeshadow. I then apply a light dusting of setting powder down the center of my face and my skin looks flawless! What I did notice about the Flawless Silk Foundation is that it dries quickly on the skin and it doesn’t feel sticky and tacky, I just get smooth soft looking skin with a bit of a glow, which lasts me all day until I take it off.
This and ALL B. makeup and skincare is suitable for Vegans, and the foundation has an SPF 15, it’s available in 12 shades… Check out Superdrug on your High Street or find it HERE.
I usually prefer my face makeup fairly matte and add some glow with a touch of highlighter on the top of my cheekbones. But I’ve decided to give an illuminating foundation a go and I treated myself to this one from Collection. This is the Illuminating Touch Foundation. To be honest, I’ve had this foundation for a few months and it’s remained unopened in my drawer. I purchased mine from Superdrug, but it does appear to be discontinued from there, however Boots do still have it in stock. I’ll leave a link at the end of my post.
A foundation such as this one is perfect for dry skin like mine, it does make an older face appear more luminous therefore giving a more youthful appearance. So why oh why have I only just started to use this pretty product? I really don’t know! BUT, better late than not at all.
The foundation comes in a gorgeous frosted glass bottle that has a sun burst motif on it, and with a pump action delivery system, which I love. I used my dampened Basic Beauty Tools foundation blending sponge to apply the foundation to my face (I’ve a review of the sponge HERE) and it blended into my skin easily and even though the formula is quite lightweight, it gave me a lovely medium coverage which is perfect for me for Spring/Summer. Once on the skin it gave me a soft dewy glow, and not an oily looking mess that I was expecting. I used it right up onto and under my eyes, where I found that it didn’t sink in to any lines, in fact it kept the area hydrated. I did powder around my nose and chin, because I don’t like to look too shiny in those areas. The staying power of the foundation was ok, it didn’t slide off my skin at all and it didn’t go orange on me either. In all for just £5.99 it’s a super illuminating foundation. There are just 4 shades available which is unfortunate to be honest, check them out HERE.
Hello and Happy 2018 my lovelies! I’m Teresa, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty…
When I was asked if I would like to review the Basic Beauty Tools foundation blending sponge and Spongedry holder I have to be honest with you it was the holder that had me saying yes please!
I’ve got and used a few brands of foundation blending sponges, and they are all pretty much the same on performance and usability. They all work better when used dampened, although some expand more than others when damp. The Basic Beauty Tools sponge is absolutely fantastic, it’s Latex FREE for one thing! And when dampened it expands more than I’ve seen on any other beauty sponge. To use mine I wet it under the cold tap and squeeze excess water out, then I squeeze it inside a clean towel to take out even more water. This particular teardrop shaped sponge is so soft and spongy when damp it’s gorgeous, it bounces over my skin when I apply my foundation using the rounded bottom (!!!) and the point is fantastic for getting into all the nooks of the face, ie around the nose and eyes, and it doesn’t soak up all my foundation and concealer into itself either, which is due to the unique micro cell texture of the sponge.
I found my sponge to be so easy to clean, I do use the same solid soap cleanser that I use for my brushes, and then pop it to air dry on the Spongedry holder also from Basic Beauty Tools. The little holder is just fantastic to allow your sponge (any brand to!) to dry after cleaning, it dries pretty quickly, again due to the micro cell texture, and drying this way stops a buildup of bacteria as you would if you let your sponge just dry off in your makeup bag. It’s also great to store your beauty sponge on your dressing table on a daily basis too.
Hello beauties, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa.
So a while ago I did a small shop in Wilko and purchased some products from the wonderful Essence brand. There are a couple of products that I got that have really stood out for me and one of them being the Camouflage 2 in 1 foundation and concealer.
At just £3.80 for 30ml of product it’s a bargain. It’s a squeezy tube too which I love. I’ve not used a foundation-concealer product before so I was looking forward to using this when I got it home, but it has been sitting on my dressing table waiting for the less sunny and warm weather to arrive so that I could put away the lightweight foundations and BB Creams. I actually got around to wearing this last weekend and I found it to be fantastic! I applied it using a Real Techniques Buffing Brush then used a damp sponge to press over my skin once I applied the foundation. I took the product over my eyes paying more attention to the inner corners where I’m a bit dark. For me I think that this is a medium to full coverage, and it covered all the issues I have with my skin. I get redness on my left cheek, it was covered, I get redness around my nose, it was covered, I get redness on my chin, it’s covered by this foundation, and I also don’t need to use powder to set it. If you prefer a lighter application then apply using a damp sponge rather than a brush, and that’s just my opinion of course. I also noticed after wearing for a while that it doesn’t settle into lines or cake under my eyes. It’s long-lasting and it doesn’t transfer to the collar of my clothes or my baby Granddaughters clothes when I’m squishing her! For me, this is a fabulous face base product, one that I shall be using a lot and will be a definite re-purchase.
If you don’t have a Wilko near you, you can purchase this and all Essence products online HERE.
