Feeling the Heat with MUA Makeup Academy… Fire Vixen Eyeshadow Palette

Welcome my lovelies to Elegant Ageless Beauty..

A lot of bloggers have been getting hot under the collar over the new eye shadow palette to be released by Urban Decay, Naked Heat. I am not able to purchase a palette with  that price tag at the moment, so I decided to treat myself to one of the newest palettes that MUA Makeup Academy have released, and it’s just as “hot” this is the Fire Vixen Palette.

This palette is going to take me through the rest of Summer through to Autumn, Winter and all over the Christmas holidays with these 15 buttery soft glorious eye shadow shades!

Aren’t these colours just fabulous? From pretty nude shades, to bronze, copper, burnt orange and a gorgeous cranberry red, with grey’s and silver and different shades of pink, and 8 of the colours are Matte! The colours that I used on myself (and to be honest I think I will use them more than others in the palette) are the first one on the top row, the cream all over my lid and up to the brow, the fourth one along also top row I applied to the mobile lid, and the last matte shade on the top row I blended into the crease and slightly above to actually give myself the look of a lesser hooded eye. They blend out so beautifully too, this is a gorgeous palette and one I feel I shall be using rather a lot.

You can check this and other such gorgeousness from MUA Makeup Academy HERE.

A Small Fragrance Direct Haul…W7

Hello Lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty.

One of the places I like to shop for low budget cosmetics is Fragrance Direct, a website selling branded, discounted perfumes, aftershaves, cosmetics, haircare, skincare and beauty products. I’ll leave a link at the end of this post. Mark and I use the website quite a lot, we can get more for our money when we want presents for Christmas and birthdays, and for the occasional “haul” like today. I wanted some W7 cosmetics that I’d seen on a You Tube video, So we put an order in with Fragrance Direct last Friday lunchtime and it arrived on Monday afternoon, fantastic fast delivery from them! We paid £1.99 for standard tracked delivery, they state 5-7 working days from dispatch, it is however FREE standard tracked on orders over £40. At the moment of writing this post there is an offer of Buy 5 get 1 FREE!

I didn’t buy every product that I saw in the haul video, just the ones I really wanted to try from W7. So from the top of the picture is the Cheeky Trio, a blusher, bronzer and highlighter palette. Someone once said to me that there is a red lipstick out there for everyone, so I’ve been experimenting with a red lippy as I’ve never been a huge fan, and now I think I may have found MY perfect red lipstick! I bought a Butter Kiss lipstick in the shade Red Light. I needed some new eyelash curlers so I picked up Groovy Curls. The In the Mood eyeshadow palette look very similar to the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, but at a fraction of the cost. Lastly I picked up a mascara and eyeliner pencil combo, this is the Big Lash Mascara combo in Blackest Black.

I will of course be bringing you reviews of everything in my little haul very soon, so I hope you will come back for them, in the meantime check out the fab bargains from Fragrance Direct HERE

Fortune Favours the Brave Palette from Makeup Revolution and British Beauty Blogger….

Welcome back to Elegant Ageless Beauty.

During the week I  took delivery of an early birthday present, Jackie from Makeup Revolution very kindly sent me their newest palette Fortune Favours The Brave, which was created for Makeup Revolution by Jane Cunningham aka British Beauty Blogger. This palette sold out FAST in the first few days of launch, it went mad!

The palette itself is different from other Makeup Revolution palettes, Jane decided to give us matte gold with a gorgeous logo that she designed herself, it’s just stunning to look at. It does come encased in a cardboard box which looks exactly like the palette. I loved the look of it just by seeing it in various photos.

When I opened my palette for the first time I literally went Wow! It looked stunning, the various shades and textures of each one of the 30 eye shadows within are quite amazing. There is something for every age of woman and girl, whether they have been using makeup for many years like this 56 (nearly) year old Granny, or the young girl who is just starting out using makeup like my two Granddaughters who are 13 and 11. There is a mixture of matte, metallic, shimmer and a couple of glitter eyeshadows, with baked and merged eye shadows in there too.The shades take you from the natural/nude to dark/smokey, making it such a versatile palette. I did swatch all the eye shadows on my arm, but due to bad weather and poor light we just couldn’t get decent photos for the blog, so if you don’t mind I’ll leave a link at the end to British Beauty Blogger, Jane’s own blog where she has some fabulous swatches. Also in this little beauty is a double ended brush, a flat brush for laying down the colour and then a fluffier brush for your blending, such a nice change from the usual double ended sponge applicator which never gets used.

While swatching I did have a bit of trouble getting good colour payoff with a few of the shades, mostly the matte shades, which does tend to happen with matte eye shadows no matter what brand you buy. Most of them though are amazing, they are soft and creamy and so pigmented, there’s a little fallout on some of them which doesn’t bother me at all, they are all super blendable and buildable to the intensity you want. This really is a palette for all ages, all seasons and it’s versatility will give many looks. You can find it on the Makeup Revolution/Tam Beauty website HERE

Have you got the Fortune Favours the Brave pallet? I’d love to know what you think.

Beyond Flawless Palette by Makeup Revolution….My Thoughts…

Hello again lovelies!

So I thought I should let you know my thoughts of the palette I was using over the last couple of days. It’s the Beyond Flawless 32 eyeshadow palette from Makeup Revolution.

Shiny black with the pretty rose gold branding  is now recognisable as Makeup Revolutions palettes, for a budget cosmetics brand that always looks so sophisticated.

A  lovely nude/natural eyeshadow palette with shades ranging from ivory and cream, some pretty pinks and gold tones, plenty of brown and taupe shades, finally shades of grey and black to complete that sexy smoky eye look. There’s a mix of matte and shimmer shades in the palette, with the shimmer out numbering the matte. Each eyeshadow is very pigmented, not chalky, they are so buttery soft making them easy to blend and buildable to the intensity you want.

I’ve only done 6 swatches because it was such bad light today it was difficult to get a good photo of all 32 shades, but you can see just how pigmented the eyeshadows are in the Beyond Flawless Palette. I’ve managed to show you 2 shimmer and 4 matte shades. Even the matte eyeshadows are just perfect for blending into the crease of the eyes, there’s hardly any “fallout” when applying.

So yes another super gorgeous eyeshadow palette from Makeup Revolution and it’s only £8.00! Take a look at this and more beauties like it HERE.

Hello again lovelies!

I just had to show you the newest  MUA Makeup Academy matte palette it’s called Winter Forest Matte Collection. It’s rather lovely.

It has some stunning colours in there, MUA never disappoint me when it comes to a new palette. I’m always completely happy with whatever Mark buys me or I buy myself. I wore this palette on Saturday when we went to celebrate my Granddaughters 10th birthday and I really enjoyed using them.

I don’t usually use a product until Mark has photographed it for my blog, but I was too impatient and had to use this at the weekend. It’s a beautiful cool toned matte  eye shadow palette with 10 shades just right for the Autumn/Winter, and as usual the eye shadows are of superior quality for a budget brand, something that MUA do incredibly well. There is nothing chalky about them at all they blend out so well and they build to the intensity you want.

I love that MUA now put the name of each colour on the underside of the palette, but I do have one gripe about it and  it’s that it was so darned hard to open! Mark even had trouble too. Once I did get it open I filed the closure with my glass nail file to smooth it out a bit, and now it’s easier to snap shut and it opens just fine.

These swatches are a bit of mess, sorry I was in too much of a hurry! But they are all just one swipe of the applicator. The lighter colours haven’t photographed very well because they are quite light. The two flesh toned eye shadows (Camel on the top row and Sand on the bottom row) are actually beautiful to use as your base colour to give the eye a nice clean look ready for your colour. The Winter Forest Matte Collection will go perfectly alongside the Ever After Matte Palette, but remember if your eyes are all matte add a touch of shimmer to the cheeks and gloss on the lips. This beautiful palette is a bargain at £4.00 HERE.

Thank you for reading lovelies.
